H JÚNIOR: DOES SUGAR HARM OUR HEALTH?

Sugar is an enemy of our health. The more you eat, the more you you feel like eating! Is it not true? The problem is that when we eat too much sugar, it ends up harming us. Do you know how?


The first and most noticeable effect is tooth decay, which, as you know, makes your teeth "ugly", blackish, and causes pain, to the point that many eventually have to be pulled out at the dentist.

As our body cannot use all the sugar we eat, it turns it into fat and stores it. Then problems such as overweight, obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes arise. It is best to eat healthy foods, exercise and maintain a healthy weight.

FOODS RICH IN SUGAR

Soft gums, sweets, cakes and some biscuits are foods that we all know should be eaten from time to time. What we don't always realise is that there are foods that have “hidden sugars” ready to attack! Chocolate milk, bread, cereals and even sauces have added sugar to make them more appetising.

HOW TO ESCAPE FROM THIS ENEMY?

Read product nutrition labels carefully. Ask your parents for help reading the ingredient list and checking their sugar content. To find out which product is most balanced and healthy, look at the label and compare 100g of the same product (e.g. compare one strawberry yogurt with another strawberry yogurt). Always choose the one with the lowest amount of sugar.
