Buying online is very convenient nowadays and often a way to save money. In the case of health, purchasing medicine on the Internet can be cheaper and more appealing, but it can also be illegal and, above all, be harmful to our well-being.

DANGER LURKS

Around the world, including in Portugal, there are two realities in the selling of medicines online. Those that result from direct sales, on the official page of a pharmacy or an authorised website, and that work with the same rules as in a street shop. The real dangers arise from the purchase of health products from websites that are not licensed and unregulated by the competent authorities.

In fact, here there are no guarantees that the products on sale comply with rules of pharmacovigilance, opening the door for the sale of counterfeit or forged products, or even with the composition or expiration date changed. Consequently, it increases the risk that the medicine will not produce the desired effect or cause unexpected side effects.
